Today we started a handout on Tales by the Bay and completed it on Friday. due after the weekend.

April 21st Last Week post of term 1 2015

Last Friday we had a test on Ch.2

This week small groups researched and did presentations on different components of the Victorian Era.

Students also did their first new blog post of Term 2 : Reflection on your prez & green screen photos putting yourself into the Victorian era.

On Tuesday the class was introduced to the black plague and were dived into groups

to perform question formation, this continued on Wednesday. They Reviewed the first half

Thursdays class and then wrote a mini essay on the black plague in class. Friday was a presentation

day for castle projects and work handout.

Ch.2 Test on Friday

Mon and Wed we did some work on the Underground RR. KLW sheet, Black Cdns X-Word, post card of escaped slave, blog post #6 & 7.

Tues we did some review questions on the smart board & a Ch.2 vocab X-Word.

Monday the class looked into the introduction of trade in the medieval Europe.

This was followed by lesson regarding towns and there formation and structure because

of the build up of trade and guilds. Wednesday was a work period dedicated towards

The castle project that the students have been working on or a better part of a week.

Students have submitted the organizers in groups on UPPER Canada(see last post).

On Wed. class started on an immigrant letter assignment with a partner assigned. Done in a shared google doc. Due on Tues after long weekend if not finished in class on Thursday.

Also on Thursday we did a blog post on 3 Q’s about Women in Upper Canada. These are due for Tues:

Read p. 62-65 on Women in the colonies

Answer the following Questions in detail.

1a. What work or expectations did women in Upper Canada have?
1b. Explain the difference in work for women of different social classes. (Upper class (p.52-53) vs. poor immigrant women).
2. Write your opinion on how the work women did in the 1800’s is different or simular to what women do today.Type your Q’s into Blogger & do two seperate posts..

Starting on Monday the grade 8’s were introduced to heraldry where they were

tasked to create their own coat of arms and then post it on to their blog. A small write

was done on the meaning behind the images and objects that were used to describe their

own personal qualities as well as that of there family. Next they were given a group project

where they are going to research and build their own castles. This took up the last two

classes and will also be their task for the next week.

Today we started on the UPPER Canada organizer in small groups. Will be finished tomorrow in class.
