May 14 & 15 2014 Post

SS10

-Students have been working on research for their Kamloops History topic. They should

have their notes done this week and be moving into layout on the book creator pages.

We did an exit slip on Thursday’s class.

Final project is due Tues May 27th

The industrial Rev. cards are now overdue. Also the First Nations comparison chart is now overdue.

We have started an individual project on First nations by choosing topics and doing notes on subtopics. Due by the end of next week.

Thursday’s class we did 10Q’s on Health & Career: Grad Program. There will be a quiz on Tues for this topic.

Reminder that all the group FRench Rev. assignments are now overdue and marked in JG.

Today we finished the post/trading cards (3) on children workers in the industrial Rev. Notes were to be handed in also.

We also did some notes on a video.

Fri- we did some current events that were due during the period.

Today was another work period for notes on the ATR project with partners. At this point everyone should be have their subtopics and good notes on each. Marks for effort and progress were given today.

Yesterday small groups did a comparison of the Canada East/West political parties.

Today groups finished the Advantages/Disadvantages of Confederation

Groups also assessed their partners video’s and created a shared document with their partner.

Plus choosing their top category areas to do the project on.

Yesterday we did some current events readings and questions.

 

We are a few days away from finishing the French Revolution assignment. Here are the parts we are doing now.

  1. The Revolution Begins & the Fall of the Bastille to the declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen (see p.72-78 in Crossroads & the Website). Students make notes and put together a storyboard on how they will tell the story of the Fr. Revolution. Groupscan do fictional accounts of mirroring the real chain of events.
    1. Keynote
    2. Video or Music Video using iMovie & Green Screen
    3. Comic using ComicLife
    4. Puppet Show using SockPuppets+, Talking News or PuppetPals HD
    5. Photo Slide show of the revolution –include all the events (citing pictures, using Skitch). Also create some M/C questions to enter directly into iBook Author.
  2. Groupsto create a concept map on the differences and similarities of :
    1. Declaration of the Rights of Man (p.78 + look up full text)
    2. Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (p.78 + look up full text)
    3. English Bill of Rights (p.47)
    4. Create a Concept Map (Inspiration or Popplet App)
  3. Aftermath of the Revolution (see last few pages of chapter p.84-85)
    1. Paragraphs (done independently by every student)
  4. Significance of the French Revolution (Why was it important for France & the World) Done by group.
    1. Paragraphs or Concept maps or do a video or anything.

March 24 & 25th 2014 Post

SS9

Groups finished the group paragraphs on the Kings of Fr. Rev. and handed them in via google drive.

What ever is not finished should be done for HW.

SS10

We finished on Tues the Immigrant to Upper Canada letter with partner. It is HW now.

Read p.62-65 on Women in the colonies and do the Q’s -please type them into Jupiter Grades.

Mar 13 & 14th 2014 Post

SS9

Map of France was due on Thurs.

The social hierarchy assignment on France was completed(and handed in) & new groups were formed to

research the different kings of the Fr. Rev.-we will finish this after spring break. But notes should be fully done.

 

SS10

Essay was due on Friday. We have also done some notes on Upper & Lower Canada.

Students were put into groups and are writing immigrant letter with a partner in their GEDU

accounts. Some writing can be done over break, but we will con’t also on return.

Chapter 2 review sheet was due, and we did the Ch.2 test.

Got a start on Map of France. Map will be due on Wed.

Started on Essay today. First step was to complete notes using SPERMG organizer.

Essay Q: Evaluate how the American Aboriginals were treated by the U.S. Government.

10 Questions on Upper Canada were due earlier in week.

The last few days we have been watching a movie to take notes for an upcoming essay

on Aboriginal people and gov’t.

Essay will begin on Monday’s class.

Phamplet’s on Charles I were due on Wed.

We did a some questions and timeline on England without a King.

Friday we will be doing a review sheet on Ch.2, and a test on Monday.
